The start of my three-dimensional painting was with works on paper. 3D watercolor portraits. And 3D watercolor still lifes representing the simple life of rural Middle River, a community in the heart of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, a land of stunning mountains, forests and lakes near the Atlantic Ocean. The subjects of these still lifes include household objects, memorabilia, toys, and tools. For every 3D watercolor, I cut the surface of the paper and insert with tabs the structural paper pieces that shape the third dimension. Then I paint.
